How We Chose Our Name

In JRR Tolkein's Lord of the Ring Trilogy the hobbits are a little, unassuming people of humble origin. They live in a place called the Shire. It is the starting point from which they embark on an epic journey. The journey is fraught with every adventure and challenge imaginable. With much faith, love, extraordinarily hard work and a bit of magic thrown in, these hobbits of the Shire exceed all expectations. Not only do they achieve the unimaginable by reaching their destination; they do it in a way that is nothing short of heroic. That's why we have named our school The Shire School, after the home of the hobbits; we think it says it all. Come join us in our grand adventure and we will realize together what Gandalf the Great said of the hobbit Bilbo Baggins: "There is more to you than you know".
